Funny Thing

Morgan had a basketball tournament last weekend in Eugene.  There were probably 20-30 teams, made up of 6-8th grade boys and girls.  I was sitting in the Springfield High School gym waiting for the last game to start when this lady came up to me:

Her:  "Your last name wouldn't happen to be 'Crebbin' would it?"

Me:  "That all depends...."

Her:  "Well my dad is up from Klamath Falls to watch my son play and he saw a boy walk by and said "That is one of those Crebbin twin's kids, go find out which one."  I saw you give him money so I suspected you were his mom."

Me:  "Yes he is mine  and yes he is the spitting image of his dad at that age."

This happened not once, but twice that day.  Someone recognized Pat from Jr High when they saw Morgan.

For those of you family members wondering....it was Cinda H.  who came up to me.  She was amazed at how much Morgan looked like Pat.  I can't remember the name of the man from Jr High.

It was a fun tournament and the boys finished first.  The team is now 25-2.

Today is my mans birthday. Thank you for "growing young" with me, I look forward to many more!

Bye, Bye Summer Vacation

It is amazing how fast summer has zipped by. School started yesterday for Lucas and today for Morgan. I am trying to get meetings in with the nurse & teachers regarding Morgan's diabetes, hair cuts, clothes shopping, laundry...the list is always endless and in the meantime we are tearing out our deck and putting a larger one with patio doors out of the master bedroom and our family room. Crazy...I know... but Pat thinks we can have it finished before the first snow...hopefully that will be later in the season.Our mess 'during' construction.

Here is proof that Pat actually CAN work in the yard!

Morgan is also playing football this year. He is shocked at how exhausted he is in the evenings and how hard it is go get up in the morning. On a side note...I wrote this post last week and then promptly forgot about it. Well, on the 4th day of practice Morgan, ever the injury prone kid, dislocated his shoulder. He is fine and his shoulder should be fine, but for now, his football career is over!

I am also trying to get my scrapbook of China finished and a power point presentation done before September 9th, that is when I get to give a presentation to one of our Sunday school classes at church, 1.5 hours. I feel truly honored, some other people in our group only get 5 minutes. If you are in the neighborhood, please stop by. United Evangelical Free Church-9am on September 9.

I am also seriously looking into becoming a Family Resource Mentor for the American Diabetes Assoc. A mentor is someone who will come along side newly diagnosed families or even families in the area who have lived with diabetes for a while.

Pat, umpiring the District 6, 9 & 10 year old Little League All Star Tournament in Medford this weekend.

Next weekend is the 12 year old Tournament. I wonder if he will ever make MLB?

P.A.T.

When Pat has a new patient, he introduces himself like this "HI! My name is Pat and I am going to be your therapist. That is P.A.T...it stands for Pain And Torture." It is great to see the eyes of the newcomer get rather large and wary. He does explain that he really doesn't inflict any pain, he leaves that up to themselves!

PAT is training for the upcoming Crater Lake Marathon. And has ran himself out of one pair of running shoes already. So before Father's Day we went down to the shoe store to try on a pair of Nike AirMax 360. He loved them, but the major down fall to the shoe was that they were University of Oregon Green and Silver.

Sorry but a hard, fast Beaver fan was not going to wear Duck colors.

Then I remembered that I had a 20% off coupon for online orders. Home we went and PAT went to work finding his perfect shoe!

Marathons

After Pat ran his first Marathon in 2003 he said that he would never run another. He was sick to begin with and I don't even know how he finished.

Fast forward 3 years ...he had heard about the Walt Disney World Marathon. This was supposed to be the Happiest Marathon in the World. So he tells me to sign him up. Mind you that I have been trying to get him to go to Orlando for many years and he just wasn't going to go for a trip to WDW.

We went, he ran and fun was had by all.


Before we left Florida, we even talked about going back in 2008, but those plans were nixed after our fiasco trying to get home.

After a cooling off period of several months, Pat decided he needed another goal. And Marathons seem to fit the bill.

You see he would love to have his PhD, but doesn't really want to go back to school. He would love to move & change jobs, but that isn't going to happen for at least 6 more years. So now his thing is Marathons.

He thought about going back to Florida and running Disney again, but I'm not so sure I want to head back so soon. And he really hasn't pushed for me to sign him up.

So while we were at the Henley High School Booster Auction last night he bid on, and won, an entry into the Crater Lake Rim Run. This is supposed to be a tough race: steep hills and altitude.


His ultimate goal is to run Boston....

but he has to let his age catch up to his time to qualify!

Spring in the Basin

Opening season for Little League began this past Saturday and true to form the weather was absolutely terrible. It was cold and raining. When it stopped raining it only became colder. To top it all off...we had a double header. So from 10am until 4:30pm Morgan and I supported our team. We won the first game and lost the second and as Pat says "We have a lot of potential!"

Lucas doesn't look to thrilled, but Pat & Steph look mighty happy to finally be playing baseball!
